Band Boosters

The GC Band Boosters is a district wide organization supporting all middle and high school campuses in the Grapevine Colleyville ISD. Each campus has an elected Vice President, Liaison, and Treasurer who represent the school at the district organization. Reporting to the campus vice presidents are various committee chairpersons who are responsible for managing band booster activities at their campus.

The Band Booster organization is a vital element of the band programs in GCISD. The Band Boosters conduct fundraising activities and provide numerous support services for the bands. The success of our bands is highly dependent on dedicated and active band booster parents. Please join our CHHS band booster organization and help support your student’s band program.

Volunteer Opportunities

The success of the Panther Band is greatly dependent on the dedication and efforts of parent volunteers. Throughout the year there are numerous activities and events that require support from the volunteers. Most band parents find supporting the band to be a tremendously rewarding experience. If you are interested in helping the band, a list of the volunteer opportunities is provided below.

In addition to the listed volunteer requirements, the band can use people who have special talents such as video recording/photography, art, carpentry, etc. Also, if you have contacts with people or businesses that can provide useful products and services for the band such as food items, soft drinks, paper goods, silent auction items, local hotel and travel arrangements for out of town guest music performer/clinician, etc.

Please contact the Band Booster Vice President to sign up for volunteer positions or sign up during band registration day.

Events

Picture Day - Assist students and photographers with individual and group pictures taken during band camp.

Extravaganza - The Band Extravaganza is our major fundraising event at the beginning of school. The event requires a variety of duties consisting of support for a Silent Auction, set up and decorations of tables, serving food and drinks, and clean up.

U.I.L. Events - Region events are occasionally held at CHHS. Volunteers are needed to assist as room monitors, providing refreshments for judges, traffic control, and concessions. These usually occur after school or all day Saturday.

Band Banquet - Assist with the coordination and ticket sales for the Spring Band Banquet.

♫ March-a thon – Assist with the logistics of this annual event that builds community awareness of the band as well as fundraising.

Committees

Pit Dads - Group of Dads (or Moms) who assist the band in transportation, set up and breakdown of band equipment. Work includes Friday night football games, marching contests, concerts and special events. The Pit Dads also provide support for building props used in the marching show.

Chaperones - Parents who travel on the buses with the band and assist in any way needed. Chaperones are needed for Friday night football games, marching contests, parades, U.I.L. events and other events during the year. Chaperones are used on a rotating basis and maybe asked to work one or more events.

Fundraising

Colleyville Heritage High School Band Program offers many opportunities to our students to enrich their musical studies. In the fall our program is focused on the Marching Band, Drumline and Color Guard. Events include football games, marching competitions, drumline competitions, parades, concerts and other special events. In the winter and spring, we transition to Concert Band and Jazz Band performances. Events include concert and percussion performances, Jazz Band competitions, Winterguard competitions, our spring band trip and the Band Banquet. To support all these activities, the Band Booster organization conducts numerous fundraising events throughout the year. A summary of the fundraising activities is provided below.

Our largest fundraiser, the Band Extravaganza, occurs at the beginning of the school year. It consists of a dinner, silent auction and the first performance by the Marching Band.

The Band Boosters receive funding by operating the concession stands at home football games (freshman, JV and varsity) and for other special events held at the stadium.

CHHS usually hosts a U.I.L. event each year and the Band Boosters operate a concession stand for these events.

CHHS hosts one of the largest Winterguard competitions in North Texas each year. This event generates significant revenue through ticket sales and concessions.

Throughout the year, various fundraising sales are supported by the Band Boosters. These include sales of cookie dough, pies and other similar items. Individual band students sell the products and the proceeds are usually assigned to a specific account for the student.

The Drumline and Color Guard conduct fundraisers such as car washes, tips from Sonic fundraisers, drum-a-thons and other similar events. Proceeds are used to support specific activities for the Drumline and Color Guard.

The Band Boosters operate a Spirit concession stand at various events, selling T-shirts, sweatshirts and other band related items.
