March-A-Thon Press Release

The Village Celebrates the CHHS Band March-A-Thon with March into Fall Festival

The Village at Colleyville will celebrate the 2nd Annual Colleyville Heritage High School March-A-Thon with the March into Fall Festival on Saturday, 0ctober 1st.  The CHHS Band will march through Colleyville, down Main Street to Colleyville City Hall for a reception by Mayor David Kelly.  This free public event will cap the fundraising efforts done by the Band this year.  The evening will end with a blues concert featuring premier bluesman, Tutu Jones.

The CHHS Band will depart the school at 1PM, marching through various Colleyville neighborhoods and shopping centers, playing for much needed donations.  The Band unexpectedly grew in size this year and now must raise $10,000 for a larger equipment trailer to accommodate additional instruments that are taken to each game and competition.

CHHS Band members are collecting pledges and donations in advance from individuals and businesses.  The week before the festival, all Village merchants will host “Donation Stations” within their businesses.  Donations will also be collected along the parade route and throughout The Village at Colleyville during the festival.

As the Band marches to City Hall, the Village at Colleyville begins to come alive with lots of family fun celebrating fall and the Colleyville community.  Beginning at 1PM, children can begin to enjoy bounce houses, hayrides, hot air balloon rides, games and contests.  There will also be a Car Wash benefiting St. Vincent’s School.  Everyone will have a chance to test their pitching arms when the Dunking Booth opens, featuring various City of Colleyville dignitaries and the CHHS Band Directors.

The highlight of the afternoon will be the arrival CHHS Marching Band at 4PM, playing music from this years’ show, Canon in D Major.  Following the Band will be renowned South Dallas blues artist, Tutu Jones, performing in his first Colleyville concert.  Opening for Tutu Jones will be local artist, Grapevine High School student, Nichola.

Sponsors for the March into Fall Festival include the City of Colleyville, The Village at Colleyville, the Colleyville Public Library and The Blue Shoe Project.  All events are free and open to the public.  Food will be available for purchase.  Everyone is encouraged to come out, enjoy the day and celebrate Colleyville.  Lawn chairs and blankets are suggested for individual comfort during the blues concert.
